On Tuesday, December 23, 2025, the Metropolitan Police and the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) confirmed that comedian and actor Russell Brand has been charged with two additional sexual offences. These new charges stem from separate reports involving two further women.

Details of the New Charges (December 2025)

The CPS has authorized the following additional charges against the 50-year-old:

  • One count of rape: Alleged to have occurred between February 7, 2009, and March 1, 2009.
  • One count of sexual assault: Alleged to have occurred between August 31, 2009, and December 1, 2009.

These allegations are separate from the initial charges brought against him in April 2025. Brand is now facing allegations involving a total of six women.

Legal Timeline and Next Steps

Brand has been summoned to appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on January 20, 2026, specifically to answer these two new charges.

Current Legal Status:

  • Original Charges (April 2025): Two counts of rape, one count of indecent assault, and two counts of sexual assault (relating to four women between 1999 and 2005).
  • Plea: Brand has previously pleaded not guilty to all original charges. He has not yet formally commented on the new December charges but has consistently denied all allegations of non-consensual activity.
  • Trial Date: A trial for the original five charges is currently scheduled to begin at Southwark Crown Court on June 16, 2026.

The Metropolitan Police investigation, led by Detective Chief Inspector Tariq Farooqi, began in September 2023 following a joint exposé by The Sunday Times and Channel 4’s Dispatches.

“The women who have made reports, including those connected to the two new charges, continue to receive support from specially trained officers. The Met’s investigation remains ongoing.” — DCI Tariq Farooqi
