Cabot, 53, described the months following the Gillette Stadium concert as a period of intense trauma for herself and her children.
The Abuse & Threats
- Death Threats: Cabot confirmed receiving 50 to 60 death threats. One specific message noted she was being watched at her local grocery store: “I know you shop at Market Basket and I’m coming for you.”
- Public Harassment: She recalled a stranger at a gas pump telling her, “You don’t even deserve to breathe the same air that I breathe.”
- Doxxing: Her personal phone number was leaked, leading to 500 to 600 abusive calls a day for several weeks.
- Family Impact: Cabot shared that her children became afraid to leave the house, fearing for their lives after hearing some of the threatening voicemails left for their mother.
Professional “Erasure”
Despite decades of experience in senior HR leadership, Cabot says she has been unable to find new work:
- “Unemployable”: She stated that recruiters and companies now see her only as a “punchline” rather than a professional.
- The “Scarlet Letter”: Cabot believes the reaction was heavily gendered, noting she was labeled a “slut” and “gold digger” despite both she and Byron being in the midst of marital separations at the time.
Setting the Record Straight
In her interviews, Cabot clarified the circumstances of the night that many misinterpreted as a long-term affair:
- Separation Status: Both Cabot and Byron were amicably separated from their spouses. Ironically, her husband was also at the same Coldplay concert on a date of his own.
- First and Only Kiss: She insisted there was no ongoing sexual affair. The concert was the first and only time they kissed, fueled by what she called a “big happy crush” and a few “High Noon” alcoholic seltzers.
- The “Ducking” Reaction: She explained that the viral moment of them ducking was a panicked realization that they were on camera in a small corporate town (Boston) where colleagues or investors were likely in the crowd.
