When Osian Taubman-Edwards stumbled upon a Roblox ad on YouTube, it instantly caught his attention.
More than a decade later, the 32-year-old has become Roblox’s top developer, amassing over 11 billion visits to his profile and attracting five million new players to his games each month.
Hailing from Mold, Flintshire, Osian has developed over 20 games on the platform and is ranked among the top 250 creators out of 300,000.
“This has unlocked a world of opportunities for me, and my recognition continues to grow every day,” he said.
#1From Music to Game Development: A Creative Journey
Osian began developing games on Roblox in 2014 while studying music in college.
"I've always had a creative mind and wanted to pursue something that challenges me," he said.
"Music was a deep passion of mine, but I also had an immense love for video games."
#2Following His True Calling: From College to Roblox
Once Osian realized he could build and create his own games, he knew it was “instantly my calling”—even though his parents encouraged him to stay in school.
"As I left to say goodbye, they would watch me out the window to make sure I caught the bus. But I would get off at the second stop and wait for them to leave," he admitted.
"Then, I’d sneak back into the house through the back window and start working on Roblox—completely ignoring my education."
#3From Small Wins to Billion-Visit Hits
One of Osian’s earliest successes was Castle Battles in the Sky, which became “a hit” on Roblox.
"Back then, a hit game only had around 50 to 100 players. I hit 105, and I couldn’t believe it," he recalled.
His biggest success to date is Barry’s Prison Run, a game under his Platinum Falls profile, which has amassed 3.1 billion visits.
With over 80 million daily users, Roblox is one of the largest gaming platforms—especially popular among children aged 8 to 12 in the UK—allowing users to create, play, and share their own games.
#4Roblox and Safety Concerns: A Developer’s Perspective
Over the years, concerns have been raised about children being exposed to explicit or harmful content, as well as reports of bullying and grooming on the platform.
However, Dave Baszucki, Roblox’s co-founder and CEO, maintains that the company is vigilant in protecting its users.
Osian Taubman-Edwards, who has been developing games on the platform since a young age, shares a similar view, emphasizing Roblox’s strict content moderation.
"I’ve heard about parents’ safety concerns, but Roblox is really strict now. There’s a system in place if someone is causing problems," he said.
#5Roblox’s Safety Measures: How Parents Can Protect Their Kids
Osian Taubman-Edwards reassures that Roblox has strict moderation systems in place to filter harmful content and protect young users.
"If someone sends bad messages, Roblox completely blanks it out and it goes to a system where they can completely get rid of that person. So it's pretty good," he told Radio Cymru.
He also emphasized that parents have control over their children's experience on the platform.
"If they don't want their kids to bump into anything inappropriate, they can set parental controls on the phone to ensure their kids only see age-appropriate content," he added.
#6The Secret to Roblox Success: Creating Games with Passion
Osian Taubman-Edwards believes that the key to making a hit game is creating something you’d genuinely enjoy playing.
"To be honest, I'm in tune with my inner child and I create games that I would have liked as a child," he said.
His approach has led him to collaborate with Warner Bros and Universal Studios, but his ultimate goal is to launch his own game studio.
"I never thought working from under my staircase, hiding from my parents when they thought I was in college, would lead to my success," he added.
